GELIOPHOBIA – fear of laughter
More often than not, people laugh when they are experiencing positive emotions such as happiness or joy. The action of laughing releases endorphins and has been linked with stress release and boosts in the immune system. Despite the benefits of a life full of laughter, geliophobics can actually feel nausea and anxiety at the thought of a chuckle – ironically, the very symptoms a good laugh is meant to eliminate.
