HELIOPHOBIA – fear of the sun
The sun is absolutely essential to life on planet Earth – so much so that most ancient religions regarded the star as a deity. Despite its importance and the fact that the sun is a distant 93,000,000 miles away, heliophobia is a very real fear. Those who are afraid of the sun may carry parasols or wear protective clothing covering the entirety of their bodies. This often causes more harm than good; heliophobics can suffer from depression and vitamin D deficiencies due to lack of sunlight.
